Grosvenor Waterside in the heart of Chelsea on the banks of the river Thames is one of ALU Installations most prestigious projects. One of the most significant aspects of this project was the remediation of the timber decking and timber handrails. In order to enhance the overall aesthetics and safety, the timber decking was replaced with a non-combustible aluminium Mydek System. Additionally, the timber handrails were replaced with the robust and stylish aluminium Vulcan System.
To ensure the smooth and timely completion of the project, it was important to establish a safe and secure site compound. This compound would serve as a hub for all the necessary resources, including welfare facilities, materials, and a cutting station. The compound’s proximity to the River Thames presented a unique challenge, as it required careful consideration of safety measures.
To overcome the obstacle of accessing the balconies, which were surrounded by water of the harbour, ALU Installation employed an innovative solution. Due to the absence of any external scaffolding, all operatives were thoroughly DBS checked and equipped with body worn CCTV cameras. These measures were put in place to ensure the safety of both tenants and operatives.
In conclusion, the Grosvenor Waterside project in Chelsea showcases ALU Installation’s commitment to delivering prestigious projects. The remediation of the timber decking and handrails, as well as the replacement with aluminium alternatives, not only enhanced aesthetics but also improved safety. The implementation of robust safety measures, including the DBS checks and body worn CCTV cameras, demonstrated the company’s dedication to the well-being of both tenants and operatives.
